She inspired me
I pulled into the Retirement Village to collect her. In this particular aged care job, I took clients out to Dr’s appointments, shopping, specialist appointments, to parks for coffee, showered them, cooked meals, cleaned. You name it, pretty sure I did it.
Morning set up
There is something about a morning set up or flow that reorganises my soul.
My situ is not complicated.
It’s not a certain set of sequences (well, yes tea first!).
It doesn’t belong to any organisation or instution.
It’s mine.
And its often messy and it changes with the seasons.
But a morning set of things is the most devotional offering I can give myself.
rhythms / rituals
Lately, a new rhythm is what I need as I have a work schedule I need to get organised for.
Also I need to be on the bus by 7.40am. Yep, ungodly really. Anyho.
After a few weeks of not really thinking about my morning, a few of my most fun morning rituals got dropped. I wasn’t even aware, until I started to feel a bit flat. A big meh.
Artists Dates
My artist date this week was a trip to the NSW Art Gallery. It was perfect timing as the NSW Art Gallery is so cool, literally the nicest place to be in during this hot stinky summer we are having here in Sydney. And there’s so much art to see, much of it for free.
So you don’t need to suffer during summer, just head to the gallery to soak yourself in the cool air and surround yourself with beauty. Win win.
Love: Tea & Ritual
Ritual is all about intention, how it feels, what you bring to that moment. From the outside it looks like not much, but its all about what’s going on in my inner world.
This year is my 55th, and my mornings have become so much more flexible. There’s no dogma, just joy. When I have a lazy morning, I really enjoy that stretch of free time.
The key to devotion
I wont give the key away right now, but instead give you a cute story first.
In the cobbled bustling streets of Venice, the couriers and delivery men yell ‘Attentione’. All the tourists look up, shuffling out of the way. Its the cutest and most alarming thing to have someone yell like this as you are just meandering down a cute little Venice alley. Attentione!!!
Follow your heart
My Yoga teacher many moons ago said she was meeting up with one of her students in France for tea. They and their families just happened to be in the same part of the world for 24 hours and would meet for tea. Tea sounds different to coffee, it has a gentleness about it that I now appreciate.
Go explore
I love how synchronicity works too. You’ll love this story. So last year I was in town with a friend visiting a cute Japanese store called Simply Native. They sell the most divine incense, that’s why we went. A day trip of sorts. After I got home, I enjoyed the incense so much that I signed up for their newsletter.
The bedside table
What happens when we choose, is we become responsible in some way for those choices. Maybe that’s why is easier for some to fall into things, then there’s no way they are having to own those decisions. There must be something appealing to them to not make decisions, at all.
