refresh the rituals
Living well by living true,
one morning at a time.
I’m not who I was five years ago.
You’re not who you were in your last job, your last role, or even last month & thank goodness right?
The world keeps shaping us — softening our edges, deepening our colours, redrawing the lines. We’re becoming little works of art, constantly evolving.
But even as we change, we often cling to what’s familiar. We stay with rituals that once lit us up… long after the spark has faded.
“This doesn’t feel right anymore... but maybe it will again?”
Sound familiar?
Let Go of What No Longer Fits
We hold onto habits like spells we’re afraid to break — hoping the old magic might return. But here’s the truth:
It’s okay to let go.
You, dear lady, deserve rhythms that match who you are now. Not who you were five years ago. Not last season. Not even yesterday.
Let this be your permission slip to evolve.
To write a new chapter. Or even a new book.
To toss out the table of contents and begin again.
Let’s rework the ordinary. Refresh what’s grown stale. Let’s bring a breath of new air into how we begin our days.
Morning as Ceremony
Since I’ve been commuting on the bus — reading, listening to podcasts — I’ve noticed a theme that keeps rising up:
Morning matters.
It’s not just the first part of the day. It frames the whole thing. And women know this. We feel it in our bones.
How we begin sets the tone. It’s like setting the table before a beautiful meal — even if it’s just for ourselves.
And let’s remember, not everyone receives the privilege of a new day. Let’s use ours well.
Here’s what’s been working for me lately — small practices, big impact.
☕ Tea
I start the morning with tea.
I had a lovely little teapot from a tea shop in Chatswood — until I broke the lid (opps), so I treated myself to a handmade teapot from Wonki & J Ceramics (pictured above). Two perfectly steeped cups — and it's beautiful.
Inspired by my friend Tania, I started mixing teas. Right now, it’s:
Heavenly Rose
French Earl Grey
Both from The Art of Tea in Tasmania — found on a trip to Hobart with Tania, where the teas are as good as the conversations.
📝 Journaling
Some days, I write a quick list. Others, I do the classic Artist’s Way exercise — three pages of messy thought dumping. The goal? Julia Cameron swears it clears your head and it does for me & helps you make space for something better to enter.
🎶 Music
Lately, I’ve been stuck (in the best way) on Olivia Dean. As soon as the kettle’s on, her voice fills the space. Play what you love. Taylor Swift? Yes. James Taylor? Of course. Music is the undercurrent of a good morning.
✨ Scent
Light a candle or some incense.
Pour a few drops of essential oil into a diffuser.
Dab on a favorite perfume oil — just because.
It doesn’t have to be grand. Just intentional.
Romanticise the Everyday
Make your habits into rituals.
Let your mornings become sacred.
Speak to the day with your actions: “I’m here. And I choose to live this well.”
You won’t regret it.
I'd love to hear:
What morning rituals feel true to you right now?
What’s something you’re ready to let go of — and something you’re ready to welcome in?
Let’s keep refreshing the beauty of living. 💫
